Great ideas. It's good to just get something on the page, even if it's incomplete. My first drafts always have a lot of "fjlskdfjlskdf" where I need to fill in facts, stats, etc.

I would put know the market you are aiming at, as Number 1. The "redneck" type is very different from the NYC/LA type. What works as an appeal to one, may not work with the other. Worse yet, it may actually backfire, and have the opposite effect. A die hard Democrat thinks differently than an Independent, or Republican. When I see a generic, or worse, a targeted commercial or ad aimed at the wrong type, I wonder what they were thinking. Did they really not know the difference, or were they too lazy to write better copy.

I wholeheartedly agree (I am a German copywriter.)

I do not respect 1 and 2, however, but look at the congruence:
3) of course!
4) I know you are supposed to do that but personally I can't
5) Of course! And the time allocated might even be alike
6) I do exactly the same! I use hyperlinks in my Word doc to switch from one part to the other.
7) Has happened to me, however I often start with the headline/the big idea.
8) Here I use Word's split-screen function
9) Most of the time I do insert these with my own words already (to be polished later)
10) How could you do otherwise!
